Hey guys here is the second episode of our series ''Who's The Boss'' if you missed the first episode you can catch up by clicking Here.....
Now lets get down to business...
Judith sat with her mouth agape, she blinked rapidly trying
to be sure
she was still standing before him, she knew he was waiting
for an
answer, this would not have been a problem if only she knew
what he
meant by "Friends". He seem like a responsible guy
but she would not
dare think about him besides being her boss. Her brows were
furrowed
in confusion as she stared blankly into his face.
"Judith is every thing alright?"
she readjusted in her seat, 'father deliver me from evil'
she prayed.
Why should he call her by her first name, what happened to
his
insisting that every one be addressed formally in the office
because
he thinks that will make people work best but its ridiculous
having
your close friends and pals call you Miss Ade as if you are
an old
maid.
She determined it was really time to go. She wanted to
believe her
boss was joking. "Emm...sir if there is nothing else to be discussed,
i beg to take my leave..." she stood up with all the
courage left in
her and attempted to move.
"Don't you consider it gross disrespect for you to
ignore my
questions? Is this how you treat our clients? I bet not,I
asked you
simple questions and you were staring at me as if I had
grown horns,
do you hate me that much? No tell me, am I that despicable?
Oh
of course you would not like to be my friend, i heard you are
one of
those church girls...Judith went stiff with shock, she loved
her job
dearly but alot is threatening her faith."Father I
need your wisdom."
she prayed in her mind.
"Sir?!" she managed to say and he gave a half
hearted smile.
"You are shocked I know that part of you right, well I
guess it's no
more news in this office. See I have had dealings with
acclaimed
Christians and I swore to be smarter next time. I am not a
devil okay,
i go to church on Sundays to please my mum but i really
don't care. I
appreciate your attitude so far, just ensure you keep your
faith
aside, I don't need that right now."
Judith had never been this confused before. She tried to
process all
that he had said but her brain was too scrambled for that
task. She
saw the anger with which he spoke, she wish she had the
chance to
correct his notions about Christians but she would not want
to betray
herself or get involved in this mess. "Lord reveal
yourself to him."
she prayed earnestly in her heart.
Micheal saw her confusion, he expected her to get angry and
try to
defend herself or the gospel but this meditative look on her
face got
him thinking she is one of the real ones. "Lets be
friends". Was the
line he had used on a couple of loose ladies who think they
can sleep
their way to the top. At least there are still decent ladies
in this
town. He looked at her again and he caught himself thinking
about her
in wrong territories. He shook his head as if the thought
would fly
away. Well it must be his mind playing tricks on him. He ran
his hand
through his afro, why does he feel on edge when she is
around yet a
part of him seem to enjoy having her around though he knew
it was pure
torture to her.
He crossed the desk and leaned back on the desk facing her,
he noticed
she was fidgeting and he was not happy she was this nervous
around
him, he placed a hand and her shoulder trying to calm her
down but he
got to know that was a wrong move.
"I am sorry sir, I think I must leave now, you have
kept me here
longer than usual, i think i can stand the insults but sir i
would not
appreciate it if this continues, I respect you as my boss so please I
demand that the respect be reciprocated. I do not hate you,
neither do
I find you despicable but sir it would do you a lot of good
if you
check your attitude." she had gone past caring about
the job, she
would not stand there and watch him disrespect her like
that, she is
not a kid and even if he seniors her, maybe that will be with
three
years or so. It is the clap of the hands that leads to
dancing, it is
one thing that leads to another. If he decides to fire her
for
standing on her self dignity, fine and good.
"Sir, I think I have had enough. I watch you boss people
around as if
you own the universe. I appreciate your zeal for the work
but I do not
mix work with this kind of pleasure and..."
"Enough! Do you realize that I could get you
fired?" he said angrily,
no woman had dared him this much, as angry as he was, the
foolish part
of his brain admired her bravery.
"Yes I do but I thank God I can say this before I send
in my
resignation letter. Mr Micheal Jacobs Jnr, to experience the
success
you desire, you must change your strategy, you are too
stiff. I
believe a working structure is the permanent structure.
Think about
it." She walked to the door with an air of confidence.
Micheal was still in shock but it took him no time to see
what the
company will lose if she decides to resign and dad will not
approve of
it so he swallowed
his Ego to say this to her "Miss Ade, you may not
believe this but I need you, the company needs you, he quickly added,
because there is trouble."
She turned briskly."What!"
To be continued....
